As a new author, Michelle Lentz wanted a website that could introduce both her and her book to new readers. She envisioned a space that would be warm and inviting—something that would encourage visitors to explore, learn more, and ultimately, feel confident in purchasing her book.
I had the privilege of working with Michelle to bring this vision to life, and in this interview-style blog post, she shares her experience and insights about the process!
What’s your favorite part of your new website and branding?
Michelle: The website offers FAQs about the content of the book and an overview of each chapter. It includes more information than I originally thought to include, and it provides several opportunities to click through and purchase the book. My favorite part is how thorough the website is!
What was your favorite part of the process?
Michelle: Working with Sofia was my favorite part. Her creative ideas took a lot of the burden off of me in deciding what to include and what not to include. Initially, the thought of creating a website sounded exhausting, and I didn’t think I had it in me to write marketing blurbs to promote my book. BUT Sofia is the most excellent ally—she got me started and encouraged me through the process.
How does the design reflect your values and mission?
Michelle: The design offers an authentic look at me as an author and the mission of my book. Sofia did an excellent job of anticipating what my readers might be looking for when they visit my website. She even suggested adding more information so that readers would feel confident about the book before purchasing it.
Have you received feedback from your audience/community about it?
Michelle: Yes! Through the website, several people have discovered that there is a Companion Guide available for those readers who would like to do a deeper dive into the topic of the book. The website has been a helpful way to advertise that additional resource.
How did you feel supported during the process?
Michelle: Sofia made herself available to answer questions and edit the website throughout the creative process. She included me in the process and encouraged my input. I was able to offer suggestions for color changes, wording, or font changes along the way.
What are you most excited about now that the project is complete?
Michelle: I am excited to have a website I can direct people to that will answer their questions about what to expect when they buy my book. The overview is thorough, and I believe readers can buy with confidence after reading through the description and FAQs. I’m also thrilled to have a landing page where I can post links to the various podcasts I’ve been on.
What advice would you give to other business owners considering a similar project?
Michelle: Have a conversation with Sofia! She understands the whole process and will take the guesswork out of the equation, helping to produce a website that you’ll be proud of.
